With a lengthy tradition of contributing to a wide range of notable charity causes throughout Europe and Africa, SportPesa is delighted to have been able to provide its continued support to Everton in the Community after becoming an official partner to the charity in February 2019. Since the partnership started, SportPesa contributed to the outstanding work performed by Everton Football Club’s charitable arm with numerous initiatives that have helped the Merseyside-based charity make a consistent and positive difference to people’s lives.
SportPesa’s ongoing support to EitC has so far seen the global technology and gaming company aid Everton’s community schemes in a number of ways. As well as providing the funding for the charity’s long-standing flagship mental health programme ‘Imagine Your Goals’, SportPesa is also donating £1000 for every Everton goal scored at Goodison Park through the ‘Goals That Give’ initiative in support of Everton in the Community’s ‘People’s Place’ fundraising campaign. The gaming giant is also raising funds for ‘The People’s Place’ campaign through half-time interaction programmes and Adam Beighton, Director at SportPesa, is proud for the company to be associated with such important projects for the local communities:
“Giving back and doing all we can to help build communities is at the very core of what SportPesa is all about. Since our establishment five years ago, SportPesa has been committed to a number of causes and Everton in the Community is important to everybody within the company. What the team there is doing to help people from a variety of backgrounds is unbelievable and for SportPesa to assist means everything to us and we’re proud to be playing such a significant part. The relationship between ourselves and EitC has been a brilliant one so far and SportPesa look forward to building on it in 2020.”
As part of SportPesa's partnership with Everton in the Community, the Liverpool-based brand also became a founding partner of The People's Place. Johnnie Garside, Health and Wellbeing Manager at EitC, outlined the vision and plans for the new support centre that will open in North Liverpool, “The People’s Place is something I’m very excited about and it’s something that we know can make a massive difference to people’s lives. It’s going to be a fantastic building with two floors, and it will contain a number of features designed to give people the support they need. As well as counselling and advice services, The People’s Place will be a space for sport, art, music and many other wellbeing opportunities including coffee mornings and poetry nights. This is a project purely designed to help people and give them the support that they desperately need.”
When asked on how the local community will benefit from EitC's partnership with SportPesa, Garside added, "It’s quite simple, SportPesa’s financial contribution is supporting us to continue on our mission to help save people’s lives and that’s basically the importance of having a strong and committed partner on board. Mental health is a major problem for so many people and for us to be able to do all we can to try and make their situation easier means so much to everyone involved here.”
