If you want to know how much the projects by SportPesa and its partners touch the lives of many people in sports, you just have to follow the annual Sports Industry Awards that are held in Johannesburg, South Africa. August 17, 2018 marked the third year in a row that the company and its partners got top honours at the awards.
SportPesa, which was shortlisted in two of the 18 categories at the 2018 Sports Industry Awards held at the Sandton Convention Centre, took home the Best African Sponsorship Award for the Everton in Tanzania tour that took place in July 2017 and was also feted for the Best Pan African Campaign for the same tour. It was Everton’s maiden tour of East Africa.
Since its debut at the SIA in 2016, SportPesa has won five awards in total. In 2017, the company won Best African Sponsorship Award for its support of the Kenya grassroots football league, Super 8, in partnership with Extreme Sports Limited. In the same year, SportPesa’s campaign ‘Made of Winners’ won the Pan African Campaign of the Year at SIA.
In 2016, SportPesa’s debut year at these awards, the company took home the Best African Sponsorship Award for partnership with the Kenyan Premier League
